The incidence of missing and abducted children in the United States has grown to epidemic levels. According to a study released in 2002 (National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrownaway Children) there were an estimated 797,500 children reported as missing in the United States in 1999. We strongly encourage parents and others entrusted with the care of children to educate themselves, as well as their children, in protective behaviors.
The police department will provide, at no cost, individuals or groups with education and training on child abduction prevention. Additionally, the department routinely provides fingerprinting and DNA collection clinics for area children several times each year. Persons interested in either of these potentially life saving programs, should contact the police department at 920-929-3760.
